In Longing for Belonging, the simple form of garlic takes on a deeper, more poignant narrative. The central garlic bulb, with its layers peeling away, seems to stand alone, separated from a single clove that has drifted apart. This subtle yet significant separation evokes a sense of isolation, as if the clove longs to return to the whole, yearning for a place where it truly belongs.

Through delicate brushstrokes and soft lighting, the painting captures the fragile beauty of disconnection and the quiet desire for reconnection. The garlic, often seen as a symbol of togetherness in cooking, becomes a metaphor for belonging and the spaces we create between ourselves and others. Longing for Belonging speaks to the universal human experience of seeking connection, even in the most unexpected of places, reminding us that even in separation, there is a quiet hope for reunion.
