Welcome to My Creative World

Hello, and welcome. I’m Sophie Mohin Reisz, a self-taught oil painter based in New York. I began painting in 2022, and what started as a hobby has quickly become a defining part of who I am. Embracing the title of “artist” has been both humbling and exhilarating, and I’m grateful to share my work with you.

My work is rooted in the still life tradition and inspired by the luminous beauty and symbolism of the 17th-century Dutch Masters. Through my paintings, I seek to transform familiar objects into reflections on beauty, truth, and impermanence.

My artistic voice has been shaped by my time living in Asia, Europe, and America. Each place offered its own cultures, colors, textures, and ways of seeing the world, and those influences continue to find their way into my work. A single flower petal, a piece of fruit, or a porcelain vessel becomes more than an object on canvas; it becomes a story, an invitation to pause and rediscover the quiet poetry of everyday life.

Alongside a full-time career, my studio is where I dedicate my energy and focus. When I am not working, I am painting, approaching each composition with care and intention, creating works that are at once contemplative and vibrant.

My paintings bridge the old and the new: the rigor and richness of classical technique combined with a fresh, contemporary perspective. I hope my work allows you to experience beauty as both fleeting and enduring, revealed through the interplay of light, color, and quiet reflection.
